Avril Lavigne has just revealed her new single, “Head Above Water.”

This is the first unreleased track from the singer in the past 5 years. That’s right — since 2013, Avril hadn’t released any new material.

The single “Head Above Water” talks about the period when Avril was seriously ill. She revealed that she wrote several songs while resting in bed — and truly believed she was going to die. The track is expected to be part of her upcoming album, which currently does not have a confirmed release date.
